How it started
2015
MedTrace Pharma A/S was founded in 2015 and has developed a hardware solution that enables the production of ¹⁵O-water in clinical practice.

2018
In 2018, MedTrace merged with aQuant, a software company, that has developed a unique analytical software platform only for ¹⁵O-water. With this, the company’s overall solution became complete and has since moved ¹⁵O-water from the lab and research to practical use.

2020
In December 2020, Aarhus University Hospital received a magistral exemption for clinical use of MedTrace’s P3 system as well as authorization for the use of non-CE marked medical device components of the P3 system. Since then, the Danish Medicines Agency has granted exemption for clinical perfusion studies using the P3 system and the aQuant analytical software at Aarhus University hospital and Copenhagen University hospital. Aarhus University Hospital has scanned more than 3000 patients using the MedTrace P3 system.

MedTrace has since 2021 received 16 patents within 4 different “patentfamilies” here among its system for modelling the human heart in European Patent, Japan, United States and China.
